What a Roller Coaster!

This week has been such a roller coaster of emotions tha I am exhausted! After the royal run around I got from my surgeons office, I started thinking that there had to be a plan B somewhere.

I'm not sure why, but I decided to go to the Weight Loss Surgery Support Group at Baylor Grapevine on Tuesday and met Ann. She is my surgeon's nurse and right hand person. She was wonderful!! She told me I had been going about this the wrong way with a lot of misinformation.

After calling the other office my surgeon has, I finally got everything straightened out and found out that I should have already had a consultation with my surgeon. I called Wednesday morning and was able to see Dr. Matin that afternoon. He really seems to know his stuff, answered all my questions and concerns and set my mind at ease. His office staff is top notch and they are working to add more info to my file that insurance is requesting. What a *&%$ paperwork trail my insurance company requires to save them money in the long run. Still pending, but it looks as if it is approved, I can have my surgery 12/22 or 12/23 and have two weeks to heal before facing a classroom of 3rd graders :o).

I'm so excited! I just found out on Tuesday that all my "ducks are in a row" because I have completed the requirements to submit for approval to have the lap band surgery. I called insurance on Friday and the very sweet operator said that they received my request and it should take 2-4 weeks to receive an answer. Then she suggested I call Friday to see where it was in the process. Cross your fingers!!

OK. So I have heard about blogging, but have never gotten the guts to try, so here goes. Thank you Stacy for sharing this site with me.

I have also read that keeping a journal is a great way to get out feelings and sort through life. I am planning to have lap band surgery in December. Maybe my thoughts and experiences can help someone else considering this or going through this.

You know, it's interesting how much trouble I'm having getting approved by insurance! I am so healthy, but weigh 253 pounds, so they want soooooo much before approval. No heart disease, no diabetes, no nothing, so therefore, no surgery.....YET! II can be very tenacious! I'm working through all the red tape and if I can ever get a hold of the surgeons office, I have fulfilled all their requirements, so they should be able to submit for approval! Keep your fingers and toes crossed! A few prayers will help, as well!
